Philosopher Nabeel here reporting for duty,
Let’s talk about Life…what a mystery.
Yummy, delicious, gooey, dark, light, warm, frozen, tempting life.
If only we read the ingredients, life would be so much more predictable.
Knowing exactly the outcome, the results, the taste, the feeling, the mother trucking anxiety…was it all worth it?
Oh if only Life was actually like a box of chocolates, we always knew what the truck it was we were getting into.
It never is, unless you’re Forrest Gump; in which case — Run!
Mr. Gump taught me a great deal about life, how it never really is what we expect, how a simple minded individual could accomplish wonders, how Jenny was just misunderstood, and how on earth some one could accomplish so much without ever wanting it, having it all and still living a simple life.
Running and running, in search of what it all meant.
Never really knowing what we’re going to get.
Run Forrest Run! — remember to give back and remember to never give up.
Even the Amputee Lieutenant would one day become a captain, and sail.
Bubba’s Shrimp dream would be realised after his departure.
Forrest never wanted anything out of life, he just did whatever was in front of him.
Not too sure of the outcome, he’d do it anyways.
I’m pretty sure that’s how Nike came up with their slogan “Just do it”.
Forrest never did change his shoes, did he?
He kept them on, as a reminder of where he’d been.
All Forrest cared about was Love.
The simple things in life.
Without judgement, he would accept anything and anybody in his life.
Forrest taught me a great deal about what expectations can do.
Forrest would keep trying, as insane as it seemed, life kept throwing him gift after gift — even though that’s not why he did the things he did.
Nobody really knew why Forrest did anything, if not for Jenny.
When I look at Forrest Gump, I think as crazy as it seems, I wish we could all be as free-spirited.
Not bound by the rules, just doing the things for the sake of it — not knowing the outcome.
Being rewarded in the most auspicious of ways.
Forrest truly is the embodiment of pursuing a goal without knowing the end result, pursuing it without intent.
Just running, without knowing what or why he was.
Just hope, and knowing all along…“Mama always said, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.”
And “Shit, Happens!”.
