Having it all, and nothing at all.

I usually know how to start these things off, and lately I haven’t.

A part of me feels like it’s missing, and I’m not sure what my place is anymore. I find myself staring into nothingness and my mind jolting me back from a distant memory.

I wrote some time ago about how Work is coping mechanism, and it works.

Except it’s not there anymore, not in the same way.

Not because I’ve lost my job due to Covid.

But because I’m one of those lucky few who were allowed to stay at home and take it easy on work.

Corporate Dilemmas.

As I delve deeper into the corporate world, I’ve come closer to the realisation that at some point I’ll have to make an important decision:

Do I wish to shape the world around me or do I let it shape me?

The corporation for which I work has expectations from me which they regard as my ‘Intellectual Abilities’, yet as every encounter I have, every recommendation I forward, every innovative project I propose; ends up serving as a dead-end.

A dead-end which reads plainly as ‘corrupt’. That every meeting I’m being led into has a deeper meaning than what is…

You graduates have every right to expect penetrating words of profound wisdom. Unfortunately, though, I am going to have to disappoint you and present to you a multiple-choice test the last of your college career.

The only consolations that I can offer in presenting the test are that you may consult texts freely, the test is self-scoring, and you have a lifetime at your disposal now to complete it.

This exam will be proctored, though. The proctors will be two — the community in which you live and, hardest taskmaster of all, your inner self.

The question:

What do you…

If only God used Emojis.

It wasn’t the impending horror of what could’ve been, or the good ol’ Kurt Vonnegut Jr. reminders from Cat’s Cradle;
“Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are ‘It might have been’.”

Reminded of a time when one clocked at 9 a.m. and clocked out at 5 p.m.

Life was just that simple, and there wasn’t alot of time to ponder about the purpose, the idiosyncrasies, the intricate objects and organs that make us tick.

It was, for him, the last day of a career spent in the same building of some 30 odd years; and a…

But it’s worth a shot.

It was after a night of absinthe induced paranoia and crack cocaine withdrawals, I’d imagined a bitter end to a miserable life.

A waste of space, air, and matter.

I saw the devil, lurking over me; “Take me away, Satan”.

“Uhh…this one seems conscious, we’re gonna need some medics back here”.

It was not the devil himself, but his minions — Emergency Responders.

They were wearing a Red Cross; though it wasn’t upside down, but rather evenly spread across — like a PLUS (+) sign.

They strapped my body, to what I assumed would be the torcher chamber.

They started…
